Origins 02 - Golden Hour in Koh Phangan

This set is part of my Origins series, where I look back at the music, places, and stories that shaped my journey as a DJ.

Koh Phangan holds a very special place in my heart. I’ve never seen audiences quite like those in Phangan, people who don’t simple enjoy music from time to time, but crave it, need it. Some of the best sets I’ve ever experienced have been in Phangan, and all had the same things in common - a DJ playing with care and respect for their audience, and an audience giving their full energy in return.

Phangan’s music is quite unique, with a distinct flow, and as most parties stretch through the night and into sunrise, Phangan’s DJs tend to take their time to build the energy of their sets, unlike in cities like Bangkok where DJs can be more rushed.

The music in this set is inspired by the distinct sounds of Phangan and is a reminder to me of the countless sets I played there through golden hour and sunset at various corners of the island - some of the best memories with the very best people.
